BORGHESE GALLERY
The Borghese Gallery, a true gem located in Rome, is a palace dating back to the 17th century, when Cardinal Scipione
Borghese chose the site on the Pinciana hill to build
his Villa Borghese Pinciana, a place of pleasure
- in the style of an ancient Roman Villa .

The palace came to house the impressive collection
of Roman, Renaissance and Baroque works
of art acquired by the Cardinal.

The elegant rooms of the Borghese Gallery are richly
decorated from walls to ceiling, forming a kind of
frame within which are placed magnificent sculptures of
Bernini and Canova, as well as canvases by various artists, including Caravaggio, Titian and Raphael.

In this 17th-century sculpture - so rich in details -  Gian Lorenzo Bernini included The Penates, carefully carried by Anchises.

David preparing to hit the giant Goliath with a rock. The concentrated face of the future king of Israel
- sculpted by Bernini in the 17th century - demonstrates the gravity of that moment for the Israelites.
Bernini's magnificent interpretation of Persephone's Abduction by Hades, god of the underworld.
Detail - Hades and his dog Cerberus
Bernini carved this sculpture between 1621-1622, when he was just 23 years old.
The artist managed to record the violence of the moment in marble - Persephone's desperate look; her gestures to ward off Hades
and also to flee from fierce Cerberus - who is at her feet; and the intensity of Hades' force on the young woman's skin.
